Organic produce from the heart of the Brecon Beacons

Why Organic?

What is organic?

The use of the term organic, when applied to food, has a legal meaning. It means the food has been grown and processed according to Standards which are legally enforceable in the UK and across Europe. These Standards cover every stage of organic food production, from farm to shop. We are certified with the Welsh Scheme UK13.

How does organic farming work?

  • Animal welfare is a priority. Animals must have enough room to express their natural behaviour and have free access to fields where they graze a healthy, natural diet with no routine use of drugs or feed additives.
  • Farmers build up their soil fertility by using clover and natural wastes such as farmyard manure to enrich the soil. A knock on effect is the reduction in pollution of water, or soil and food chains.
  • Trees and hedges are managed to provide important habitats for wildlife.

We welcome visitors to the farm by prior arrangement and are happy to spend time explaining how we work.
